STEP - Cookie Policy

This cookie policy describes the types of cookies and similar tracking technologies we use during STEP Project (the "Project"), the purposes for which we use each cookie, how you can disable and enable the use of certain cookies, and the consequences of doing so.

What are cookies?

A cookie is a small data file placed on your computer or other device to enable a website to recognise you as a user when you return to the website using the same computer and web browser, either for the duration of your visit (using a "session cookie") or for repeated visits (a "persistent cookie"). Other similar files work in the same way, and we use the word "cookie" in this policy to refer to all files that collect information in this way.

Cookies have a number of different uses, for example, they can help you navigate between pages efficiently and store your preferences. Cookies also help website operators to identify which content is most popular and so enable them to improve their site and the services they offer to users.

There are various types of cookies and tracking technologies, which can be divided into the following four categories:

  • Those that are strictly necessary (for example, cookies that allow you to move around a website);
  • Those that improve the functionality of a website by storing your preferences (for example, cookies that remember you when you return to a website);
  • Those that improve the performance of a website to provide a better user experience; and
  • Those used for advertising or monitoring purposes.
2.

First and third party cookies

The categories of cookies listed above may be set directly by us during the Project during your visit (known as "first party cookies"). However, some cookies in these categories may also be set and/or read by third party websites that we authorise to run the content of some of the pages you visit (known as "third party cookies"). For example, the registration form on our Platform is provided by HubSpot, Inc., whose content delivery network may set strictly necessary cookies to protect the form against bots and abuse.

Which cookies do we use?

The table below lists the cookies that may be placed on your device when you visit the STEP website. We review this list regularly.

We do not currently use analytics, advertising or social media cookies on the STEP website. If this changes, we will update this policy and ask for your consent before placing such cookies.

Our website also loads fonts from Google Fonts (Google Ireland Limited). This does not place cookies on your device, but your browser sends your IP address to Google when the fonts are loaded.

4.

Legal basis and consent

Under Belgian law (Article 10/2 of the Law of 30 July 2018 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data, implementing the EU ePrivacy Directive), we may place strictly necessary cookies without your consent, because the website or a service you request cannot work without them.

All other cookies, including analytics, functional, advertising and social media cookies, are only placed after you have given your prior, free, specific, informed and unambiguous consent. Refusing cookies is as easy as accepting them, and refusing has no effect on your access to the website. Where we ask for your consent, we will ask again at the latest after 6 months.

5.

How to manage or withdraw your consent

You can block or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings:

Please note that if you block strictly necessary cookies, some parts of the website, such as the registration form, may not work properly.

6.

Cookies and your personal data

Some cookies may collect personal data, such as your IP address. More information on how VO GROUP processes personal data and on your rights is available in our Privacy Policy. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (www.dataprotectionauthority.be).

7.

Changes to this Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in the cookies we use or in the applicable legislation. The date of the latest version is shown at the top of this page.
